The following information is sourced from the powerhouse that is Americans for Homeopathy Choice
Homeopathic Medicines Are Now Officially Unapproved by the FDA
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has updated guidelines have changed the status of homeopathic medicines from a special category of medicine to a group considered unapproved - this now means that all homeopathic medicines are technically illegal and may be removed at any time by order of the FDA.
The position of Americans for Homeopathy Choice (AFHC) is that the FDA’s reclassification of all homeopathic medicines as “unapproved new drugs” violates the Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act. The act already provides a process by which homeopathic medicines are approved for inclusion in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (which is administered by the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Convention of the United States). In our view declaring homeopathic medicines “unapproved new drugs” and thus technically illegal contravenes settled law and 80 years of subsequent FDA policy.
If you are in the US and haven’t already joined the fight for homeopathy’s very existence please sign up here
Outside of the US?
Don’t think for a second this won’t affect your ability to access homeopathy…
Do you remember thinking that in 2015 when the NHMRC ‘report’ was released?
Which triggered homeopathy does not work headlines around the world? !
And removed homeopathy and other comp med from Australian health insurance?
Even though five years later NHMRC CEO Prof Anne Kelso kindly clarified that “contrary to some claims, the review did not conclude that homeopathy was ineffective.’’
FYI
The ONLY REASON homeopathy is still legal in Australia is due to the stellar efforts of the Australian Homeopathic Association (AHA)
If you are a lay person or outside of Australia, please consider supporting the AHA who must remain vigilant to protect your access and right to homeopathy
If you are an Australian homeopath or homeopathy student you have a professional duty to support the AHA
Why?
Because the NHMRC was concocted to harm professional homeopathy, and was actually followed closely by legislative moves to prevent homoeopaths from being able to practice legally in Australia
It was only due to the efforts of the AHA that the impacts of these threats were neutralized
No other Australian practitioner association stood up in support of homeopaths and homoeopathy during this period … only the AHA
Disregard the false claims made by unregistered or ‘fly by night’ influencers
In 2024, homeopathy in Australia owes its very existence to the AHA.
Meanwhile in New Zealand …
During May 2024, the ‘New Zealand government’ announced its intention to repeal the Therapeutic Products Bill
This bill was snuck in (during 2023) by the previous ‘government’ (having been unsuccessful due to public pressure twice prior third time lucky…)
The press release of (09.05.2024) contained the concerning wording;
“The Government will now develop a modern, risk proportionate regulatory regime for medicines and medical devices, and a separate modernised regime for natural health products”
Watch this space!
SUPPORTING HOMEOPATHY is once again a political act.
Historically, activists for homeopathy were also pioneers for social justice! 1

‘In contrast to frequent claims, the available Meta Analyses of homoeopathy in placebo-controlled randomised trials for any indication show significant positive effects beyond placebo.
Compared to other medical interventions, the quality of evidence for efficacy of homoeopathy was similar or higher than for 90% of interventions across medicine.
Accordingly, the efficacy evidence from placebo-controlled randomised trials provides no justification for regulatory or political actions against homoeopathy in health-care systems.’2
