A good prescription can typically (person dependent) mitigate x condition somewhat even if the maintaining cause continues on (in my experience) but yes, ideally it requires reduction alongside the remedy for a total symptom improve - especially with dietary i.e., low calorie, low fat, low carb etc., induced conditions which can often be the case in elite female athletes, determined of course by the sporting discipline.
This paper looked at chronic diseases which arose during hectic training schedules in then teenaged athletes - research tells us why this is so.
